Ecco was founded in 1963 by Birte and Karl Toosbury. Karl Toosbury was trained as a shoemaker and dreamt of owning a shoe factory and running his own business. The company began with the production of footwear and the expanded into leather production. They then opened their first retail store in Denmark in 1982. Today, there are over 2,250 Ecco retail stores across 99 countries while Ecco factories are operated in 6 locations around the world, delivering millions of premium quality shoes.
